Short Biography //

Zoe Mix is a Metis artist from the Seattle area. In 2014 she was accepted into the Opera program at the University of British Columbia. Two years later she was also accepted into the UBC Creative Writing program. While at UBC Zoe studied voice with Marisa Gaetanne. Zoe participated as a librettist at Vancouver Opera’s New Works workshop series in the summer of 2017. Zoe will be graduating UBC with a double major in Creative Writing and Opera Performance in May 2018.

Zoe Selena Mix is a Metis artist from the Seattle area. She has studied classical voice since the age of ten at the University of Puget Sound in the Community Music Program. In 2014 Zoe was accepted into the Opera Performance program at University of British Columbia. During her second year she was also accepted into the prestigious UBC Creative Writing program. While at UBC Zoe studied voice privately with both Dale Throness and Marisa Gaetanne. Zoe was chosen to participate as a librettist at the Vancouver Opera’s New Works workshop series in the summer of 2017. Outside of UBC, Zoe works under graphic novelist and art director Stan Shaw in Seattle. While in Vancouver, she also studies with poet Michael Barnholden.  Zoe will be graduating UBC with a double major in Creative Writing and Opera Performance in May of 2018. She is currently working on publishing a series of dream comics having to do with her family’s Metis heritage.

Zoe Selena Mix is a Metis artist from the Seattle area. She has studied classical voice since the age of ten at the University of Puget Sound in the Community Music Program. In 2014 Zoe was accepted into the Opera Performance program at University of British Columbia. During her second year she was also accepted into the prestigious UBC Creative Writing program. She has received over seven awards for academic excellence at UBC, including the Trek Scholarship, an Inspire Award, and an ongoing music scholarship from donors of the UBC opera program. While at UBC Zoe studied voice privately with both Dale Throness and Marisa Gaetanne. She is well versed in French art song and vocal works by Schubert. Zoe performed with the University Singers ensemble in 2014, and participated in many productions with UBC opera, including The Marriage of Figaro, Eugene Onegin, The Bartered Bride, and the world premiere of Choir Practice by Stephen Chatman. Zoe was chosen to participate as a librettist at the Vancouver Opera’s New Works workshop series in the summer of 2017. Outside of UBC, Zoe works under graphic novelist and art director Stan Shaw in Seattle. While in Vancouver, she also studies with poet Michael Barnholden. Zoe will be graduating UBC with a double major in Creative Writing and Opera Performance in May of 2018.
